How many of these do you remember?
It was 1959. For eyes, the "two burnt holes in a blanket" look was high style in high school, and white or nearly-white lips were all the rage. "Spray net" was a dressing-table essential, but backcombing had not yet become a fad.
This Revlon lipstick case originally cost about $8, and was sold as "refillable." All Revlon colors were sold as refills. The refills, which cost $1.25 each, were packaged in a swivel case made of metal, with a cream-colored plastic sleeve to protect the lipstick. The grooved metal base of the refill snapped into the bottom half of the case. Or you could simply carry the refill, as is, in your purse.
