Jaded Green Eyes

One look in your violent violet eyes
Too many like you, too many she'd seen
You promised her silver and gold beyond counting
But it didn't mean much in her eyes of jade green

You live with a secret, you won't live much longer
She went along for a Cadillac ride
Soon it grew tarnished with rust and corrosion
Shaded eyes, jaded eyes, all night she cried

Buy you a gun in a South Dallas pawnshop
Pearl-handled insurance, making your tracks
Hunting her down for guessing your secret
Jaded green eyes, and a slug in her back

Run for your life and waive extradition
Try to forget that terrible scene
Hide in New Mexico, hide from the sheriff
But never escape from her eyes of jade green
